What We Did Last Summer — Part 5: Jamaica Bay, Queens

This month, Adrian’s story “Riding the Tide: Artist Marie Lorenz explore NYC from an unexpected viewpoint” appears in Wilder Quarterly’s Summer/Fall issue.

In pursuit of this story, Adrian spent part of the summer waking at dawn and cruising around a quiet inlet of Jamaica Bay with Lorenz herself, a Brooklyn-based installation artist.

They explored islands, looked for horse shoe crabs, phragmites austrailis, and Adrian learned about Lorenz’ nearly 10-year project exploring New York’s forgotten waterways in what she calls, the Tide and Current Taxi.
