The weather is hot and the roads are still open. That must mean classes for MFAers and University of Wyoming students (including, you know, the ones we teach) began this week. Poets, fictioneers and nonfiction(eers?) are getting back to the loving and difficult work scribbling here in Laramie. Especially those new scribes we’re welcoming to our program: you are most welcome, Olivia, Auesta, Korie, Nick, Erin, Manasseh and Ella!
Lots to look forward this year, including visits from Eminent Writers in Residence Sherwin Bitsui, Dinaw Mengestu and, as in years past, Joy Williams and Rattawut Lapcharoensap. We’re lucky to have them all and are thirsty for their wisdom. Sometimes literally. (I mean, we share refreshing beverages together.) But also in a figurative sense.
Here’s to a most excellent new writing year, minimal inclement weather and a lovely new group of writerly Laramites!
