Often times, on the backs of books, there is a neat black-and-white photo of the author. For many of us, this is the only glimpse we will ever get of our favorite writers. However, here at the University of Wyoming, we are incredibly lucky to have an ongoing Visiting Writers Series. Then we get to see those black-and-white photographs spring to life, and, boy, is that trippy. It’s also wonderful and educational.
We are excited to announce that Maggie Nelson will be our first Eminent Writer in Residence for the 2012-2013 school year. For those of you not in the know, Nelson is an acclaimed nonfiction writer, poet, and critic. The New York Times, in a review of her latest book, calls her a “wonderfully fearless” writer, “unpredictable and original.”
You can catch Maggie Nelson at her public reading on August 30th, from 6-8 pm, at the University of Wyoming Art Museum.
Hope to see you there!
